Posted on September 27th, 2022
Over 1.1 Million visitors (1,137,000) experienced our stunning destination straddling the Tropic of Capricorn to the year ending June 2022, staying for nearly 4 million nights (3,928,000) and spending $809 Million dollars.
Official Tourism Research Australia (TRA) statistics just released for the year ending June 2022 reveal a 10.2% increase in overnight visitor expenditure (OVE) from the same period the previous year and a 31.2% trend growth in the three years since 2019. Across the Capricorn region, spend per visitor was $712 and spend per night was $206, with an average length of stay of 3.5 nights.
Our three distinct precints of the Capricorn Coast, Rockhampton region, Central Queensland Highlands, continue to experience strong visitation, with the Capricorn Coast experiencing a slightly longer length of stay reflecting the holiday visitor and a slightly higher spend per night in Rockhampton reflecting the business visitor. The longer haul caravan visitor continues to be particularly strong throughout the Central Queensland Highlands.
Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said “Our Capricorn region continues to punch well above its weight, thanks to our hard working businesses who continue to improve their experiences and deliver exceptional customer service seven days a week. It is through our continued partnerships and collaboration at a local, regional, state and national level, that helps drive our continued increase in visitor numbers, spend and length of stay.”
“We are proud of our collaborative marketing efforts with industry, which really stretches every dollar to achieve incredible promotion and publicity across a broad range of multi media channels.”
