Paul Murray’s ‘Our Town’ Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast on Sky News

Presenting in his words ‘CQ – the best place on the planet’, Sky News’ Our Town host Paul Murray spent time exploring the Capricorn Coast and Keppel Bay Islands, before hitting the Great Western Hotel in Rockhampton to broadcast his live show at 9.00pm on Sunday 16th April.
The episode kicked off with Paul lapping up the Keppel Bay waters atop the Southern Great Barrier Reef and included two fabulous pre-filmed segments showcasing the diverse beauty of our destination.
The first promotional segment featured the Central Queensland Livestock Exchange (CQLX) along with the 7 bull statues across Rockhampton showing exactly why the town is referred to as the ‘Beef Capital’. This package also touched on CQ University’s School of Mining, supporting Queensland’s mining and manufacturing sectors.
From beef to reef, the second promotional segment (from 33.17 – 37.28) highlighted our magical Keppel Bay, with reporter Lucy spending time chatting with Denis from Great Keppel Island Hideaway, Libby and Richard Wilson from Keppel Bay Marina/The Waterline Restaurant/Banana Station Beef, and Adam from Koorana Crocodile Farm. Transferring from the mainland onboard the Keppel Konnections ferry, Lucy also had the opportunity to get below the surface with Keppel Dive and Snorkel, witnessing firsthand the largest living organism on Earth, before heading back to Rockhampton to take in the views of Mount Archer National Park and the Rockhampton Museum of Art.
Joined by many Rockhampton locals as part of the live audience, Paul chatted on air with Senator Matt Canavan, One Nation’s Chief of Staff James Ashby, Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry, and Beef Australia Chair Bryce Camm. JRT Director Jason Thomasson and SMW Group CEO Jack Trenaman were also in attendance, continuing their eager advocacy for the Rockhampton Ring Road.
