Plastic Free July
Posted on July 3rd, 2023
This Plastic Free July takes small steps. Small changes that people everywhere are making to stop their use of single-use plastic. Avoiding bottled soft drinks and bottled water; refusing pre-packaged produce; choosing reusable coffee cups; dine-in over take-away and reusable choices over single-use always. Small changes with big impacts.
Plastic Free CQ with Lure Living on Capricorn Coast is launching a Reusable Cup program for Plastic Free July. We encourage everyone who grabs their daily fix to BYO/UYO Reusables when on the fly, getting to work or out and about. Lure Living embraces and encourages all regulars to use Reusable Cups and offers a 0.50c discount when you BYO/UYO!
Plastic Free CQ is running the Reusable Cup Program for three weeks to embrace reusables and ditch as much single-use coffee as possible with the support of the Lure Living Community. The Lure Living team will be counting single-use, dine-in and BYO/UYO with the aim of embedding a culture of reuse along the Coast, with Lure Living joining other like-minded members such as Cups & Muffs at CQU, The Alley @ Yeppoon CBD, Ocean Brew Eatery at Emu Park who have all taken this challenge on and are embedding a reusable culture into their businesses.
For a small business owner eliminating as much single-use packaging as possible is a massive cost saving.
For the Community, it is a saving in rates and landfill costs for the whole Community.
Additional savings for everyone is no litter and less waste and as custodians of the Southern Great Barrier Reef; it is our responsibility to eliminate as much unnecessary single-use plastic waste as we can!
This Plastic Free July supports Lure Living and other members by dining in; BYO/UYO cups when on the fly and embedding reusables into your culture, your day-to-day, influencing your group, lead the way. It takes a Community to create change. Local Communities drive change; let’s go CQ! The reasons are endless; the time is now; be the change.
As we are a National program this Plastic Free July all our areas across Australia are running this program with members, we call on all our members to actively promote their reusable options and to STOP promoting single-use this Plastic Free July. After all, there is no excuse for single-use! Share the Plastic Free July challenge with family and friends, and tag us in any reusable photos we love seeing your reusables in action!
