Capricorn Coast and Southern Great Barrier Reef shine bright at Australian Tourism Awards

Australia’s best of the best in tourism gathered last Friday night in Darwin for the 2023 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

Over 180 leading tourism operators, including 21 Queensland businesses who took home gold at the 2023 Queensland Tourism Awards, vied for top honours across 26 categories.

One of the many Queenslanders hitting the stage at the Australian Tourism Awards was Toni Brennan who commenced her business, Fun Over 50 Holidays – Immersive Tours and Adventures, in Yeppoon in 2002.

Now based in Brisbane, offering tours nationally and working with over 500 suppliers, the multi-award-winning, Advanced Ecotourism Certified, company has taken out GOLD in the prestigious Ecotourism category and SILVER in the Cultural Tourism category for their incredible experiences through immersive tours and adventures with a focus on fun and commitment to the local communities and natural environments in which they operate.

Explore Rockhampton also took home SILVER in the Tourism Marketing and Campaigns category, for their ‘Ultimate Mates Trip’ campaign.

In addition, our Southern Great Barrier Reef neighbours, Bundaberg Rum Distillery Visitor Experience snapped up a SILVER in the popular Tourist Attraction category.

Capricorn Enterprise congratulates all Award winners and encourages operators across the region to consider nominating for the 2024 Queensland Tourism Awards which are now open. For more information and to nominate, visit QTIC’s website here.
