Tourism Australia’s Regional GM Continental Europe visits Capricorn Coast Region, SGBR for first time!

Tourism Australia’s Regional General Manager for Continental Europe, Eva Seller visited our Capricorn Coast Region for the very first time in a whirlwind visit from the evening of Thursday 1st May to midday Saturday 3rd May, before heading south to the Gladstone and Bundaberg regions to experience the entire Southern Great Barrier Reef destination.  In less than 48 hours, Krista, Mary and Eloise from Capricorn Enterprise hosted Eva to as many products as possible while concurrently hosting other post ATE famils to our region, and we were so very grateful to host this very popular lady in region for the very first time in her 25 year career with Tourism Australia!  Sincere thanks to Empire Apartment Hotel Rockhampton for hosting Eva’s accommodation on her first night and for the courtesy bus pick up from the airport late Thursday evening.  Thanks also to Oshen Yeppoon for hosting Eva for her second night (over a long weekend) and for our amazing tour operators who impressed her with their passion for product, place and people including Riverston Tearooms, High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm, Hedlow Retreat, Keppel Konnections, Tropical Luxury Cars, Capricorn Caves, Great Keppel Island Hideaway, Vue Wine Bar and Restaurant, Keppel Bay Marina.  Due to high winds we needed to swap out Rockhampton Helicopters for a 3pm ferry departure to GKI and a 6.20pm return the same day!, but it was enough time for Eva to experience the magical diversity of our destination in a short space of time.

Eva’s social media posts certainly reflected her newfound love for our destination:

Starting my journey to the Capricorn Coast in Rocky, an eclectic mix of street art, wonderful riverbank scenery, pub & café scene, amazingly restored historic buildings mixed with modern additions such as the art gallery, I could easily have spent more time here.”

I was in for a surprise and great life lessons on so many things at High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm – so many things I had not seen grow in real life, food forest & communal living and such great ethics – loved this place…and they have got tiny houses to stay!”

How quickly can you fall in love with a place?  In Great Keppel’s case it took one hell of a boat ride and my feet touching the sand on arrival & soaking in the island vibe.  The sunset was simply stunning – what a relaxed & easygoing place.”

Thousands of bats, an enormous amount of new information presented by our amazing guide in a fascinating natural cave above the ground and a cave music experience moving me to tears – that sums up my visit to the Capricorn Caves.  This, and an early morning visit to the blissfully deserted Byfield State Forest were a morning well spent in/from Yeppoon.”

Meaningful street art from local artists, vibrant café scene, a public swimming pool lagoon we can only dream of at home…and a ‘hostess with the mostest’ in Mary Carroll – I loved every minute in the Capricorn region.”

Mary Carroll thank you for having me.  Your Passion, Knowledge and Stories of the region are such a privilege to experience – I came with not much of an idea of what to expect and left with ‘big love’ for the Capricorn Coast Region.”
