Discovery Parks – Coolwaters set to expand with new cabin-style accommodation for Capricorn Coast visitors

Visitor accommodation on the Capricorn Coast is set to grow, with new cabin-style stays approved for development at Discovery Parks – Coolwaters in Kinka Beach.

Approval has been granted to reconfigure part of the existing holiday village, replacing a number of caravan sites with 30 new cabins while continuing to operate other caravan and tourist sites across the property.

The upgrade reflects increasing demand for flexible, drive-friendly accommodation options across the region.

The additional cabins will broaden the appeal of the park to travellers wanting the holiday park experience without bringing their own caravan or RV — particularly families, couples and fly-drive visitors exploring the Capricorn Coast and Southern Great Barrier Reef.

Tony Marshall, Park Manager at Discovery Parks – Coolwaters, said the new cabins will help the park meet changing guest needs and rising visitation.

“We’re seeing strong growth in travellers looking for comfortable, self-contained accommodation that still offers the relaxed, social atmosphere of a holiday park,” Tony said.

“These new cabins will allow us to welcome more guests and provide greater choice, while continuing to deliver the laid-back coastal stay experience Discovery Parks – Coolwaters is known for.”

Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said the investment is a positive step for regional capacity and visitor dispersal.

“Additional cabin-style accommodation is exactly the kind of product growth our destination needs as visitation continues to strengthen,” Mary said.

“Holiday parks play an important role in the Capricorn Coast’s accommodation mix, and expanded cabin options make the region more accessible to a wider range of travellers.”

Construction timing will be confirmed by the park, with the new cabins expected to further support the Capricorn Coast’s growing reputation as an easy, affordable and experience-rich coastal escape.
