Visitors to the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre are discovering more than maps and local tips — they’re uncovering a vibrant collection of locally made art, books and artisan products that reflect the creativity, culture and character of the region.
The Centre proudly stocks works from a diverse group of Capricorn Coast artists, writers and makers, offering visitors the perfect opportunity to take home a meaningful, locally crafted souvenir while directly supporting the region’s creative community.
From illustrated textiles, jewellery and fine art prints to locally written books, honey, coffee and reef-safe products, the range celebrates the stories of the Capricorn Coast — its landscapes, culture and people.
The Visitor Information Centre has also commenced stocking the unique artworks of Jet James Art Gallery, further expanding the collection with contemporary, locally inspired designs that reflect the laid-back coastal lifestyle the Capricorn Coast is known for.
Many of the pieces draw inspiration from Yeppoon, Emu Park, Great Keppel (Woppa) Island and the broader Capricorn Coast, creating authentic connections between visitors and place.
Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said supporting local creatives is a natural extension of the organisation’s role as a champion for the region.
“We’re incredibly proud to showcase the talent of our local artists and makers at the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre,” Mary said. “It’s a wonderful way for visitors to connect with the stories of our region while ensuring our creative community is supported and celebrated. These artisan products capture the spirit of the Capricorn Coast and offer something truly special to take home.”
Among the local creators represented are painters, illustrators, photographers, jewellery makers, authors and small producers, including Woppaburra Elder Bob Muir, whose book This is Woppa shares cultural stories and perspectives of the Keppel Islands, along with a range of contemporary artists producing functional art and keepsakes inspired by the coast.
The retail offering continues to evolve, with new stock and seasonal pieces regularly added, ensuring returning visitors always find something fresh and uniquely local.
The Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre is open seven days a week and remains the first stop for travel inspiration, local knowledge and now, a curated showcase of the region’s creative heart.
