The Capricorn Coast Region is celebrating a major milestone following the Queensland Government’s announcement of more than $7.6 million in funding for regional tourism experiences through the first round of the Regional Tourism Infrastructure Fund (RTIF) — a key initiative under the state’s long-term Destination 2045 plan.
Among the 30 successful projects across Queensland are two experiences from our region — Capricorn Caves and Reef Distillers— reinforcing the Capricorn Coast’s growing reputation for innovative, high-quality visitor experiences.
Capricorn Caves will undertake accessibility upgrades, including a redesigned walkway to improve wheelchair access, ensuring more visitors of all abilities can experience this iconic natural attraction.
Reef Distillers will develop a new tasting room and introduce immersive “Farm to Still” tours, offering visitors the opportunity to connect with local growers and discover the journey from paddock to premium spirits.
These investments form part of the Queensland Government’s broader Destination 2045 strategy, which aims to grow regional tourism, create compelling new experiences, and ensure Queensland remains the Home of the Holiday well beyond the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
For the Capricorn Coast, this funding recognises the strength and vision of our local operators, and the region’s readiness to deliver new and enhanced experiences aligned with global visitor trends, including sustainability, accessibility, and authentic connection.
Capricorn Enterprise was proud to support more than 10 applications from across the region, reflecting a strong pipeline of tourism development. We congratulate Capricorn Caves and Reef Distillers on their success and acknowledge the ongoing passion and initiative shown by all local operators who applied.
We encourage those who were not successful in this round to consider applying for Round Two of the Regional Tourism Infrastructure Fund, expected to open later this year.
Details of the successful round 1 recipients available here.
Applications for the RTIF’s next round will open later this year, with further details available here.
