Capricorn Enterprise represented the region at International Media Marketplace (IMM) Australia 2026 on Friday 27 February at the International Convention Centre Sydney — one of the nation’s leading travel media events, hosted by TravMedia.
Across 22 pre-scheduled appointments, Alyssah met with journalists and content creators from more than 215 outlets, including Escape, Traveller, NZ Herald, Lonely Planet, Gourmet Traveller, Australian Traveller, Australian Geographic, Qantas Magazine, BBC and The Telegraph (UK). Networking breaks throughout the day were also leveraged to continue conversations and share additional destination stories.
Discussions touched on our destination’s evolving experience offering — from island escapes and eco-certified credentials to new infrastructure, events and culinary stories. Strong interest emerged around sustainable travel, Great Keppel Island experiences and multi-day destination itineraries.
Cultural Tourism also resonated strongly, particularly Woppaburra ranger-led experiences on Great Keppel Island (Woppa) and emerging Indigenous-led storytelling through Warama Culture, alongside adventure highlights such as mountain biking in Rockhampton and on-water experiences in Keppel Bay. Natural icons including Capricorn Caves and Byfield National Park, as well as farm stays and paddock-to-plate experiences, further demonstrated the region’s depth.
Each appointment was thrilled to receive a 50ml bottle of gin or vodka from Reef Distillers — with their “next drink on us” — providing a memorable taste of the region to continue the conversation beyond IMM.
Follow-up conversations are now underway, with tailored story angles being shared and invitations extended for media to experience the destination firsthand. Strategic engagement and face-to-face relationship building at events like these play a vital role in elevating the Capricorn Coast’s national and international profile — ultimately delivering impactful, high-quality editorial coverage.
