Celebrating Our Visitor Information Centre Volunteers

As a gesture of appreciation for the invaluable contribution made by our Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre volunteers, Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll recently hosted a luncheon for volunteers at Waterline Restaurant.

The luncheon was an opportunity to thank the dedicated volunteers who warmly welcome over twenty thousand visitors to our region and provide valuable local knowledge 364 days of the year. Capricorn Enterprise owns and manages the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre, which relies on the invaluable support of its volunteer team.

Several volunteers were recognised for their remarkable years of service. Our longest-serving volunteer, Gillo (Bev Gilligan), has contributed an incredible 38 years of service. Other long-serving volunteers include Sandra Buttery (22 years), Gerald Colvin (19 years), Robyn McIntyre (17 years), Jean McNae (15 years), Pam McCosker (14 years) and Sharon Scott (11 years).

A special congratulations also goes to Elaine DeClouett, Susan Saxby, Vicki Cooke and Nita Williams, who each received their 10-year service badge, and to Ilona Higgins, who was recognised for five years of dedicated service.

Susan Baylis, who is the Visitor Information Centre Supervisor, also acknowledged her teams ongoing commitment and thanked them for their time.

The Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre have over 38 volunteers and operates seven days a week from 9.00am to 5.00pm (except Christmas Day). Every day, four volunteers are on duty, each contributing a four-hour shift to ensure visitors receive a friendly welcome and expert local advice.

Thank you to all our volunteers for the vital role you play in showcasing the region and supporting our visitor economy. Your dedication helps create memorable experiences for visitors and strengthens the reputation of the Capricorn Coast region as a welcoming destination.
