For more than four decades, Flamingo’s has been synonymous with nights out, celebrations and unforgettable moments for generations of Central Queenslanders.
Now, one of Rockhampton’s most recognisable entertainment institutions is entering a bold new era, with owner Gavin Shuker unveiling Flamingo’s Vodka – a premium handcrafted spirit distilled locally and inspired by the venue’s rich history.
Produced through Flamingo’s own micro-distillery, the new vodka pays homage to the venue’s legacy while positioning the Quay Street icon at the forefront of Central Queensland’s growing craft beverage scene.
Crafted using premium ingredients, Flamingo’s Vodka delivers a clean, crisp finish with a smooth and refined character. Distilled locally in small batches, the spirit reflects the same attention to detail and vibrant personality that has made the Flamingo’s name a household favourite for generations.
Located at 234 Quay Street, Flamingo’s first made its mark on Rockhampton’s nightlife scene in the early 1980s, becoming synonymous with good times and unforgettable memories.
After a period of closure, the iconic venue returned in 2025 under the stewardship of Gavin Shuker, breathing new life into one of the region’s most enduring brands.
Today, Gavin is building on that legacy, transforming the venue into much more than a nightclub by creating a premium spirit that locals and visitors can proudly call their own.
“We wanted to create something that captures the personality and history of the venue while giving people a product that is proudly handcrafted and distilled right here in Rockhampton,” Gavin said.
“Flamingo’s Vodka is a celebration of more than 40 years of good times, and we’re excited to share this new chapter with our loyal patrons and the wider community.”
Capricorn Enterprise Chief Executive Officer Mary Carroll said the launch represented another example of the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit emerging from Central Queensland.
“Flamingo’s is a true Rockhampton icon and has played a role in the social fabric of our region for more than four decades,” Mary said.
“To see the business continue to reinvent itself with the launch of a locally handcrafted and distilled vodka is incredibly exciting. It demonstrates how established brands can evolve and create new experiences while celebrating their heritage.”
“Travellers are increasingly seeking authentic local products with a story behind them, and Flamingo’s Vodka is exactly that – a celebration of place, personality and one of Central Queensland’s most enduring institutions.”
As Flamingo’s celebrates more than 40 years of memories, the launch of its signature spirit proves that even the most iconic brands can continue to evolve while staying true to the character that made them famous.
