ABC Capricornia took its morning program on the road today, broadcasting live from the spectacular surrounds of Capricorn Caves and shining a spotlight on the people and organisations that help make The Caves community unique.
Presenter Jeremy Jones and the ABC Capricornia team hosted the outside broadcast, speaking with a wide cross-section of local representatives about community initiatives, tourism, education, events and life within the township.
Interviewees included Charles Borg from The Caves Progress Association, Melinda McKenzie from The Caves State School P&C, Hall Committee President Robert Clews, Hall Committee representative Bev Henson, The Caves Lions Club Treasurer Frank Wishart and Karl Grabasch from Capricorn Caves.
ABC Classic presenter Ed Le Brocq also joined the broadcast to speak about Ensemble Q, adding a cultural and musical perspective to the morning’s conversations.
The outside broadcast provided a valuable opportunity to showcase The Caves township to listeners across Central Queensland, highlighting the strong community spirit, local experiences and dedicated people who contribute to the area’s identity.
ABC Capricornia has committed to hosting outside broadcasts from a number of locations across the region, taking its programming directly into local communities. The team recently broadcast from Rockhampton’s Archer Park Rail Museum, sharing the stories of the historic attraction and the region’s rich rail heritage.
Capricorn Enterprise works closely with ABC Capricornia to help ensure our region’s positive stories are shared and celebrated across the community. We welcome the team’s continued commitment to profiling local communities, businesses and attractions and showcasing the people and places that make the Capricorn Region so special.
