Capricorn Enterprise recently attended the official launch of the 2026 Garmin Fitzroy River Barra Bash, joining event organisers, sponsors and supporters to celebrate the return of one of Central Queensland’s most anticipated sporting events.
Hosted by Frenchville Sports Club, the launch provided an opportunity to hear from the local businesses and organisations whose ongoing support plays an important role in delivering the event and supporting its continued growth.
Now entering its ninth year, the Fitzroy River Barra Bash has established itself as one of Australia’s premier catch-and-release barramundi fishing competitions. The 2026 tournament will be held from 18 to 21 October, bringing 105 teams of anglers to the Fitzroy River to compete for a share of more than $100,000 in cash, prizes and giveaways.
The popularity of the event was demonstrated immediately following the launch, with all available team registrations selling out in less than 24 hours.
The rapid sell-out highlights the strength of the Barra Bash brand and the Fitzroy River’s growing reputation as a leading fishing destination. It also reflects the important role major events play in attracting visitors, supporting local accommodation and hospitality businesses, and showcasing the broader Capricorn Region.
Capricorn Enterprise congratulates Frenchville Sports Club, the event team and the many sponsors and supporters helping to deliver another successful Fitzroy River Barra Bash in 2026.
