New Campaign encouraging Central Queenslanders to holiday in their own backyard
Posted on November 15th, 2017
Central Queensland residents will be encouraged to spend their summer holidays in region with a new “Spend Summer in Capricorn” campaign launching on Monday 20th November.
The campaign, being promoted under the Capricorn Holidays banner, will be showcasing the fantastic holiday offerings of the Capricorn region across all media channels, with a new television commercial, radio promotions, digital marketing and newspaper inserts all aimed at enticing locals to spend their summers in region and support local businesses.
Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said “The campaign targets locals within the 400km radius drive market, who make up a significant amount of our visitor economy. We want locals to know that a great holiday experience can be had just up the road and that their support helps drive the local economy.”
The campaign focus is on a promotional insert that will be included this Saturday’s paper across the Rockhampton, Mackay, Gladstone, Bundaberg and Fraser Coast regions. The flyer showcases the great holiday destinations across the Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton – all within easy driving distance for Central Queensland residents.
The highlight of the “Spend Summer in Capricorn” campaign is a competition element, offering three amazing prizes featuring both Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast tourism operators. The major prize of $1100 from Great Keppel Island Hideaway can be used towards accommodation, transfers and meals with the aim at reminding locals that Great Keppel Island is a world class tropical island destination – being recently voted number 6 in Australia’s 2017 Top 10 Islands to Experience by Experience Oz + NZ!
Two other prizes on offer focus on events happening in Rockhampton over the Christmas period, with tickets to Rockin Rocky at the Great Western Hotel and One Hot Night concert with Busby Marou, accommodation by Edge and Empire Apartment Hotels and things to do including Koorana Crocodile Farm, Capricorn Caves and Headricks Lane.
Ms Carroll said “This campaign could not have come together without the incredible support we’ve received from APN, Southern Cross Austero, Cooper McKenzie and our tourism members”.
“We look forward to growing these partnerships in further campaigns planned for the 2018 which will also extend out west for our winter campaign.”
For those not fortunate enough to win one of the major prizes, the campaign is also offering numerous accommodation and activity deals to encourage locals to experience their local region as a tourist. Deals can be found on the campaign page www.capricornholidays.com.au/summer
