Five (5) events in the Capricorn region have secured funding in Round 11 of QDEP (Qld Destination Events Program), funding provided thanks to the State government via Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ).
Capricorn Enterprise chief executive Mary Carroll said “Capricorn Enterprise is proud of the support we have provided both during application phase with our volunteer event organisers as well as the assessment phase with TEQ, in securing a record amount of funding for our Capricorn Regional Events in one round.”

Ms Carroll said “The increased funding commitment to supporting regional events by the state government and particularly our Minister for Tourism Kate Jones is very much appreciated.”
“These key events across our Tropic of Capricorn are all worthy of support and I pay particular thanks to all of the incredible volunteers who work tirelessly to bring these events to life and help drive increased visitation and overnight expenditure to our destination” she said.
“Fitzroy River Barra Bash is a new event on our annual calendar proposed by the Frenchville Sports Club, whilst CQUniversity Village Festival, Gemfest ‘Festival of Gems’ and Paradise Lagoons Campdraft are completely run by volunteer committees, and Rocky River Festival is predominantly funded and staffed by Council. We are so excited for all of these events and what a fantastic Christmas present for our region.” she said.
