Mount Archer’s new amphitheatre now complete

A stunning new amphitheatre on Mount Archer has been revealed as the latest addition to Rockhampton Regional Council’s masterplan to revive the Region’s mountaintop sanctuary.

The amphitheatre has created a new space to enjoy sweeping panoramic views, and seats over 200 people on locally sourced sandstone with an elevated grassed stage, making it perfect for  concerts, events and weddings.

The amphitheatre is part of the Fraser Park Redevelopment and was jointly funded with $400,000 from the State Government and $70,000 from Council with the Mount Archer Fraser Park area a beautiful and functional area to be enjoyed by everyone. The construction of the amphitheatre has significantly enhanced the useable space of Fraser Park. Fraser Park is one of the most spectacular vantage points in our Region, with the two new elevated boardwalks proving to be hugely popular. There is no doubt that the amphitheatre will be also be enjoyed and well used for many different occasions.

There are still more works to come including new pathways connecting the amphitheatre to the boardwalk as well as a small nature play area with a slide, swing, trampoline and climbing logs, funded by the federal government.

While remediation works to improve the safety of Pilbeam Drive are still underway, Mount Archer is currently closed to public traffic and will re-open on weekends during the school holidays.

Pilbeam Drive is expected to completely re-open at the end of May along with a new car park that was recently constructed under the State Government’s Works For Queensland program.
