Spotlight shines on selfless Yeppoon resident

Following months of ongoing bad luck battling bushfires, storms and now a pandemic, grateful Bungundarra resident, Justine Hodges was full of cheer after discovering she was the first winner of Capricorn Enterprise’s ‘Dreaming of the Future’ competition.

The competition, which reached more than 14,000 locals and received over 300 entries, was designed to engage the community through social media, encouraging visitors and locals to keep their dreams and plans alive with an exciting chance to win and experience the very best of our stunning destination.

Winning a reef to rainforest adventure, Justine has scored herself up to $1000 worth of prizes (purchased by Capricorn Enterprise to assist our struggling tourism sector) including:

  • 1 night at Great Keppel Island Hideaway
  • Return transfers to Great Keppel Island with Freedom Fast Cats
  • 4WD tour to Long Beach with Great Keppel Island Holiday Village
  • 1 night at Echelon Apartments Yeppoon
  • 1 night at Ferns Hideaway Resort
  • Family pass to Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary

Within her entry, Justine nominated herself, and her neighbour Julie Wenzel. “We have endured months of hardship and ongoing bad luck and this news is a very welcome bit of sunshine,” said Justine.

“I was utterly surprised to receive the message that I had won and thank Capricorn Enterprise for creating the competition and providing some positive news and something to look forward to.”

After sorting through hundreds of deserving winners, Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll found that choosing a winner was a sure challenge.

“Justine’s selfless entry stood out as the small town of Bungundarra embodies the true strength of our Capricorn Coast community,” said Mary.

“With many residents living in caravans after their houses were wiped out by bushfires, we felt Justine’s noble entry was worthy of some holiday healing.”

An outstanding Coast to Country 3-night getaway for two is up for grabs this week as part of ‘Dreaming of the Future’ giveaways and entering is easy. Post your favourite Capricorn ‘happy snap’ in the comments on the Visit Capricorn competition page – www.facebook.com/visitcapricorn.  The photo that receives the most likes will be crowned our week two winner!

Capricorn Enterprise formed the three-week social media campaign in a bid to not only give back to members of the community who deserve a break, but also support struggling local businesses, purchasing prizes to put cash in their tils.
