2021 Australian Tourism Exchange continues on-line

After a busy week of face to face meetings in Sydney last week, it’s now early mornings and late nights for Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll as she represents the destination to our western tourism markets in Europe/UK, New Zealand and North America.

With 45 online appointments scheduled as the second phase of Australia’s largest tourism tradeshow, the coming week is crucial to ensuring that our Southern Great Barrier Reef destination, and in particular, our Capricorn region is front of mind for our trade partners, especially when the international borders reopen to our traditional long haul markets.

Although two thirds of the visitor economy in Australia is the domestic market, prior to the pandemic, our international market was steadily growing. Now, more than ever, our boutique experiences, wide open spaces and new products are in high demand, while overseas travellers await the green light. Which is why now is the time to continue promoting our destination against strong competition within Queensland, Australia and overseas.

In addition, the UK, France and Germany are the top 3 working holiday makers in Australia and as these three are also our top Capricorn Southern Great Barrier Reef markets, we look forward to welcoming them back as soon as we can to help with our job shortage.

The consistent message from our trade partners taking part in these meetings is that they are impressed our Southern Great Barrier Reef as we offer an exciting destination that is new and different to the well known established destinations.
