The inaugural Best in Business Awards, hosted in partnership by Capricorn Enterprise and the Capricornia Chamber of Commerce, will highlight our exceptional industry business drivers who are using innovation and expertise to move the region forward.

Entries for the 2021 Best in Business Awards are open with more than 250 people expected to attend the celebration of Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton Region businesses after one of the most challenging business years we’ve ever experienced.

Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said, “The Best in Business Awards are an exciting opportunity to highlight the many successful businesses operating across our region.

“Now, more than ever, we need to celebrate our local, resilient businesses who continue to thrive and survive, and people who make our destination unique.”

The Awards are an important opportunity to recognise excellence in business from across the region, with 10 categories:

  • Best New Business
  • Best Small and Medium Business
  • Best Medium to Large Business
  • Best Community Enterprise
  • Best Employee
  • Best Apprentice or Trainee
  • Best Response to COVID-19 Business Environment
  • People’s Choice Award

Nominations for business and employees are to be submitted through the below online nomination portalhttps://capricornenterprise.com.au/best_in_business_awards/ and will remain open until close of business on Friday 29th October with People’s Choice Awards accepted until 20th November.

Businesses are encouraged to complete the online nomination form to provide the Judges with clear and concise information about the business, including what your business does, your key points of difference to your competitors, your business history as well as business innovations, including responses to COVID-19.

President of the Capricornia Chamber of Commerce, Phil Henry, said that all the award categories gave entrants the opportunity to highlight how they responded to the restricted trading conditions imposed in 2020 to halt the impact of Covid-19.  “While we know about restaurants pivoting to respond to trading closures with increased takeaway options, there may be other ingenious ideas in different industries that should be applauded and recognised within the Best Response to COVID-19 Business Environment Award category.”

In addition, the Awards will recognise organisations that are part of the Best of Queensland 100 (assessed by Tourism and Events Queensland) and businesses that have been in continuous operation within the region for 20 years or more.

For those wanting to get in early to secure tickets to mingle among the ‘who’s who’ list of Central Queensland businesses, individual seats or tables can be purchased now via www.ivvy.com.au/event/KMKFM8/.
