Great Queensland Getaway campaign

TEQ’s major tourism campaign ‘The Great Queensland Getaway’, launched on Monday 18 October, is encouraging Queenslanders to travel around their home state. The campaign is backed by strong advertising and marketing and is offering a range of incentives to encourage travellers to book.

The Great Queensland Getaway will give Queenslanders the chance to explore like never before, with up to 50% off tours and attractions.

There’s three parts to the campaign, creating an opportunity for Queenslanders to take a Great Queensland Getaway:
1. $75 Virgin Australia airfares and Greyhound bus travel passes to get to your desired Queensland destination.
2. Accommodation and holiday packages on sale through Accor, MyQueensland and Viva Holidays.
3. Up to 50% discounts on tourism experiences, tours and attractions with promo codes on offer to all Queenslanders.

This is an $8 million campaign investment from the Queensland Government. It is one of the Queensland Government’s biggest ever campaigns.
Operators widely praised the Holiday Dollars program which generated 40,000 bookings worth more than $11.2 million. They’ve asked for a similar campaign which incentivises tour bookings to be delivered statewide – that’s what this campaign does, with the flight and accommodation incentives on top.
Promo codes on offer will provide up to 50% off tours, attractions and tourism experiences, up to a maximum value of $100 (or $200 North Queensland zone). Examples might be boat tours, adventure tourism experiences like sky diving, scenic flights, Great Barrier Reef tours, wildlife parks and theme parks.
Promo codes will continue to be released until deals are sold out – the codes only become valid once you use them to make a booking. So you need to get in quick.
People in regional Queensland are being encouraged to get out and explore further, head to the city, down the coast – and vice versa.
Operator registrations have been open through September and October and are now closed. TEQ and RTOs have worked closely with tours, attractions and tourism experiences around the state to have them ready to launch this campaign. There hasn’t been any charge for businesses to take part.

You can get a promo code for any zone that will give you 50% off tours and attractions across Queensland. Your promo code can be redeemed for a discount at the time of booking – but be quick, as there’s a limited amount of deals available for each zone.
