Capricorn Coast region represented at Sydney Caravan and Camping Show

The Sydney Caravan and Camping Show, held from 16th – 21st April, welcomed close to 45,000 attendees for a week filled with all things outdoors.

The Capricorn Coast region formed part of the Drive Queensland team, consisting of representatives from Drive Queensland, Caravanning Queensland, Drive Inland, Mackay Isaac and Habitat Noosa.

Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre volunteer, Illona Higgins shone bright and flew the flag for our destination, of which we are extremely grateful.

The team received great traffic throughout the Show, sharing their knowledge and our fabulous Queensland destinations with interested attendees.

Our newly printed Capricorn Coast Region Visitor and Lifestyle Guide proved a hot commodity, with Illona using the resource to showcase the best of the Capricorn Coast and surrounding hinterland of Rockhampton region.

Yeppoon, Carnarvon Gorge, Central Queensland, Outback, Longreach, Winton, Airlie Beach, Savannah Way, The Tip and Hervey Bay were popular destination enquiries with attendees seeking new adventurous places to discover.

Ilona’s feedback on her visitor enquiries provided the below traveller/attendee statistics:

  • 65% Grey nomads and mostly with pets
  • 15% Almost retired and researching their dream travel
  • 10% Family holidays and visiting relatives
  • 8% Backpackers and solo travellers
  • 2% Work transfers and other opportunities in CQ

With thanks to our ongoing partnership with Drive Queensland and Tourism and Events Queensland, Capricorn Enterprise is pleased to continue highlighting our diverse and characteristic destination with the nation.
