Global spotlight on Southern Great Barrier Reef at ATE25 Media Program

The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre came alive with energy as Grace from Bundaberg Tourism and Alyssah from Capricorn Enterprise showcased the Southern Great Barrier Reef’s story at the ATE25 International Media Marketplace (IMM).

Held over two vibrant days on April 28th and 29th, the event served as a powerful platform for international media and tourism leaders to connect, collaborate, and celebrate Australia’s diverse travel experiences.

Representing Queensland’s coastal destination, Grace and Alyssah infused the venue with the warmth and vibrancy of the Southern Great Barrier Reef. Across 17 targeted business appointments, they shared the region’s rich stories and spectacular offerings with journalists and media representatives from key global markets including the United States, Italy, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and New Zealand.

The prestigious program welcomed elite content creators from top-tier publications such as Corriere della Sera, Travel Today, Travelinc Memo, Wallpaper, BBC Travel, Kia Ora Magazine, Capsule NZ, and more. These interactions opened the door to powerful storytelling opportunities that will help elevate the profile of the Southern Great Barrier Reef across international audiences.

Beyond the formal meetings, Alyssah and Grace also joined industry colleagues at networking functions, building genuine connections with likeminded media professionals who share a passion for destination storytelling.

With follow-ups scheduled over the coming weeks, the SGBR team looks forward to hosting these media representatives in-region, offering firsthand experiences of our spectacular reef, coastal communities, and unique tourism operators.

Our participation in ATE IMM 2025 was made possible thanks to the support of the Australian Government’s Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) program.
