The Capricorn Coast Turtle Rehab Project is led by a small group of dedicated volunteers, operating through the not-for-profit, Capricorn Coast Marine Community Inc. In its early stages, forming a not-for-profit was essential due to exhausted and limited partnership opportunities.
We are pleased to share that a parcel of land at the Causeway Lake has now been secured under a lease with Livingstone Shire Council, under Capricorn Coast Marine Community Inc.
No on-site work will occur until development is funded and approved. The project is staged for this reason.
This project was born from the urgent need to support marine stranding officers, volunteers, and the broader coastal stranding community, in response to the critical threats marine turtles face today. The Capricorn Coast community deeply cares about its environment, and this project will also provide education and engagement opportunities to protect this important endangered species.
You can support the project by joining Capricorn Coast Marine Community Inc to stay updated, or by donating via our account details or the container deposit scheme.

A huge shout out to Emu Park Kindy for their ongoing container donations. This support highlights the collaborative effort our community is investing in marine wildlife conservation.
