Central to Defence

Central Queensland is uniquely positioned to contribute to the strategic objectives and transformation of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), underpinned by the Shoalwater Bay Training Area, established seaports and airports, the availability of industrial and commercial land, a skilled workforce, and its strategic positioning as the Gateway to the Pacific.

Reflecting this momentum, three Central to Defence project update sessions were held across the region — in Rockhampton, Yeppoon and Gladstone — hosted by the respective local governments. The Yeppoon session was hosted by Livingstone Shire Council in partnership with Deloitte and Forge Advisory, bringing together industry and community stakeholders to share progress and outline next steps for the initiative.

Central to Defence (CTD) is a collaborative partnership between Central Queensland’s three most populous local governments — Gladstone Regional Council, Livingstone Shire Council and Rockhampton Regional Council — alongside Regional Development Australia Central and Western Queensland, working collectively to strengthen the region’s role in Australia’s defence and national security future.
