Set your reminders! Journey to the Southern Great Barrier Reef airs at 4pm, this Sunday 11 October on Channel 9 and 9Now, showcasing our spectacular destination and the local characters who bring it to life.
Filmed in April this year, the one-hour special follows presenter David Whitehill through ancient caves, wildlife encounters, coastal adventures and island escapes. Capricorn Enterprise commissioned the production in partnership with our neighbouring Gladstone region, working with Proud Nomads’ David Whitehill and Roger Price.
Our region’s incredible diversity takes centre stage, with highlights including Capricorn Caves, Koorana Crocodile Farm, Lure Living, Freedom Fast Cats (Keppel Ferry Co), Five Rocks with Rockhampton Helicopters, Great Keppel Island and Pumpkin Island. The journey continues to Heron and Wilson Islands and the Town of 1770, including adventures with 1770 LARC! Tours.
A heartfelt thank you to all the operators and locals who welcomed the crew and shared their places, knowledge, and stories. We’re excited to see those moments reach television audiences and inspire future visits.
Tune in this Sunday and help us spread the word by sharing our teasers with your customers, friends and family!
