The Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre has been recognised as an ecoBiz 1-Star Partner for the next 12 months, acknowledging its commitment to improving sustainability and reducing resource use.
The recognition, awarded through the ecoBiz program delivered by Business Chamber Queensland and supported by the Queensland Government, highlights organisations that demonstrate measurable improvements in energy, water or waste efficiency.
Following an assessment comparing operations between 2023 and 2025, the Visitor Information Centre achieved a 13.7% reduction in energy intensity, meaning the centre is now using less energy relative to the number of visitors it services.
The assessment also noted that visitor numbers to the centre increased by more than 12% over the same period, demonstrating that the team has successfully improved operational efficiency while continuing to welcome more travellers to the region.
The Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre has been participating in the ecoBiz program since early 2023, working with sustainability coaches and monitoring resource usage as part of its ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.
