Mildura Rise – Media Statement
More than 50 guests gathered at Rockyview last week to celebrate the official groundbreaking of Mildura Rise Estate, marking a major development milestone in the delivery of the 392-lot masterplanned community.
The ceremony signalled the commencement of development works on the project, which has already recorded strong buyer interest.
More than 30 percent of the 112 lots available in Stage 1 are sold or under offer.
Speaking at the event Procon Developments Australia Managing Director Leon Key said the groundbreaking represented the transition from planning to delivery for one of the region’s most significant new residential developments.
“Today is the result of years of planning and a shared vision to create a community that responds to the needs of a growing region,” Mr Key said.
“We know housing remains one of the biggest challenges facing communities across Central Queensland.
“Mildura Rise has been designed to increase opportunities for people to live in the region, while creating a community where families can access the services and infrastructure they need close to home.
“The project reflects our long-term confidence in the future of the Capricorn Coast and commitment to delivering community benefits for the region.”
The estate will ultimately deliver 392 residential lots across seven stages and will include a healthcare precinct, childcare centre and retail and commercial services.
Director of Ethos Healthcare Alain Pillay said demand for health services between Rockhampton Hospital and Mackay had outstripped capacity, leaving many locals having to travel to access medical care.
“The healthcare facility planned for Mildura Rise will bring together a long hours general practice, pathology, radiology, pharmacy and allied health care, making it easier for residents to access the care they need closer to home.
“Mildura Rise Estate will be a place where people can live well, raise families and access essential services without having to travel long distances.”
The project will also incorporate a renewable energy microgrid and an advanced wastewater treatment and water recycling system, reflecting Procon’s commitment to integrating innovative infrastructure solutions that deliver reliable, sustainable and affordable power and water for residents.
TMC Pty Ltd Founder and Managing Director Tony Johansen said the project presented an opportunity to rethink how essential infrastructure – like wastewater management – was delivered in rapidly growing regional communities.
“The TMC Water Recovery System builds on technology already operating successfully in a residential estate in Witchcliffe, Western Australia,” Mr Johansen said.
“Our system treats and reuses water locally, reduces pressure on traditional networks and helps unlock development in areas where conventional infrastructure can be difficult or costly to deliver.
“Importantly, residents will have access to a fully reticulated sewerage system, just as they would expect in any modern residential development.
“The difference is that wastewater will be treated locally through an advanced enclosed treatment process rather than relying on traditional trunk infrastructure.”
Member for Mirani Glen Kelly MP said the commencement of construction at Mildura Rise Estate was an important milestone for the region.
“Projects like Mildura Rise are important to ensure our communities can continue to grow and prosper,” Mr Kelly said.
“We know there is strong demand for housing across our region and increasing supply is critical to giving local families more choice and helping address affordability challenges.”
Capricorn Enterprise Chief Executive Officer Mary Carroll said the project demonstrated the Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton region continued to be one of Queensland’s great growth stories.
“Projects like Mildura Rise Estate help to accommodate our rapid growth while maintaining the lifestyle and opportunities that attract people to our region in the first place,” Ms Carroll said.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Senator Matt Canavan, Leader of The Nationals; Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry MP; Member for Mirani Glen Kelly MP; Member for Keppel Nigel Hutton MP; Director of Ethos Healthcare Alain Pillay; and representatives from Procon Developments Australia, project partners, future residents and community stakeholders.
