As part of the 2019 Capricorn Enterprise Major Projects Forum, we were privileged to welcome Lucas Dow, Chief Executive Officer from ADANI Mining.
Lucas joined ADANI in April 2018 and is responsible for the strategic direction and all activities associated with ADANI Mining. He is an experienced senior executive with a proven track record of outstanding performance across distinct businesses, diverse commodities and geographies. He trained as a Mining Engineer and has held operational management roles in thermal and metallurgical coal operations.
Launching his session with a video clip showcasing the current status of construction, Lucas proceeded to outline Australia’s opportunity to be a significant supplier of high-quality thermal coal to India.
Lucas explained how the metallurgical or coking coal to be mined has a higher energy content than other coal types making it a better option for consumers. More polluting emissions are generated from burning low energy coals because greater quantities are needed to get the same amount of electricity as higher-energy coals.
A quick summary of the Carmichael Mine and Rail Project provided attendees with an understanding of the approvals received and a construction timeline. Despite $450+ million in contracts already awarded, there are still tender opportunities currently available.
With a new Rockhampton based office, information, access and jobs are now available locally.
