Small Business Export Loan

Export Finance Australia (EFA) has recently expanded the eligibility for its Small Business Export Loan (SBEL) to support a wider range of funding needs.

Some of the key changes implemented are:

Implementation of an export revenue-based eligibility criteria. Businesses that generate at least 20% of its revenues from export sales can now apply a loan for a wider range of financing needs.

  • These include:
    • Funding export market development costs
    • Funding the costs associated with fulfilling orders from international customers or Australian exporters
    • Purchase of new plant and equipment
    • International e-commerce business operations
    • International tourism business operations
    • General working capital or other export related purpose.
  •  the 20% export revenue requirement does not apply to businesses applying for funding an export related PO or export market development costs.
  • Extended repayment terms of 18 and 24 months for plant and equipment finance loans.

Please note that, businesses applying for SBELs would need to demonstrate sufficient profitability or cash flows to service the proposed debt obligations.
