Community information sessions for Yeppoon Road upgrade

The final design for the $80 million Rockhampton–Yeppoon Road, Yeppoon Road upgrade will be on display at community information sessions this month. In addition to the final design, community members will be able to see the project’s features and benefits and discuss timeframes.

The Member for Keppel and Assistant Education Minister Brittany Lauga encourages anyone interested in the project to drop-in and talk with the project team.

The Yeppoon Road upgrade project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments, with the Australian Government contributing $64 million and the Queensland Government contributing $16 million under the Roads of Strategic Importance (ROSI) initiative.

Following the finalisation of the project design, the construction contract for the $80 million Yeppoon Road upgrade is expected to be awarded early to mid this year and is estimated to support an average of 90 direct jobs over the life of the project.

Road users are encouraged to understand the project and what makes it a significant development for the Capricorn Coast and Central Queensland. A key safety priority of the finalised design is removing the cross-road movements from Artillery Road to Dairy Inn Road and providing safe turnaround points which will be even more important when Rockhampton¬–Yeppoon Road is ultimately duplicated to four lanes.

Information sessions will be held:

• Yeppoon Central Shopping Centre from 23-25 February between 9am-–5.30pm (Thursday until 7pm), and
• Stockland Rockhampton Shopping Centre from 9-11 March between 9am–5.30pm (Thursday until 7pm).
