On Monday 3rd March, Keppel Bay Sailing Club welcomed special guests Federal Senator Anthony Chisholm, Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry, State Member for Keppel Nigel Hutton, Livingstone Shire Mayor Adam Belot, Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll, Project Manager Brian Hooper, Life Members of KBSC, friends and guests to the official ribbon cutting event of the $25 Million Keppel Bay Conference Centre and Sailing Hub.
Dedicated Life Members of the KBSC were honored with a ‘ringing of the bell’ to recognize their commitment and passion which have shaped the foundations of this amazing sailing community.
The multi award KBSC looks forward to hosting many state and national conferences and sailing titles, and have submitted a bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032.
Keppel Bay Sailing Club’s redevelopment funding of $20 Million was announced in April 2019 by former Deputy Prime Minister, the Honourable Michael McCormack alongside Michelle Landry MP, alongside significant advocacy efforts by Capricorn Enterprise. This redevelopment will help position the region as a premier destination for large-scale conferences and sailing events, is a boost to our local economy, ensuring the region stays competitive and continues to grow its business and tourism sectors.
Ms Landry said “this state-of-the-art facility is a huge win for our community, showcasing the Capricorn Coast on the national stage and creating valuable job opportunities for locals. I congratulate the Keppel Bay Sailing Club on this exciting chapter in the Club’s history.”
Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said “to witness the Life Members savour this moment as the next chapter for their beloved Keppel Bay Sailing Club was truly special.”
