Our Capricorn Coast Region played host to the TEQ Board and Executives this week, for which we are very grateful. Some arrived Sunday afternoon and enjoyed a whirlwind tour with Freedom Fast Cats to Pumpkin Island and Great Keppel Island, before a casual dinner at Vue Wine Bar & Restaurant and overnight at Salt Yeppoon. Arriving Monday morning, the remainder of the group joined us at Mount Archer N/P Nurim Skywalk to enjoy the views over Rockhampton, country and coast, before heading to the Capricorn Caves for a tour and update on the exciting developments planned and underway. The TEQ Board enjoyed lunch with our Capricorn Enterprise Board in the carriage at The Station 4703, prior to holding a Local Government Round Table (with both LSC and RRC elected Members), followed by an Industry Round Table with about 40 local operators, then a Networking Night at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club Commodore room and Telltales Bar overlooking the magnificent blue waters of Keppel Bay. A productive day ended with a delightful dinner at The Waterline Restaurant, Keppel Bay Marina. Qld Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) CEO Tash Wheeler and Deputy Director-General for the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI), Bridgette Woods also joined the familiarisation of our region and engagement sessions.
The TEQ Board then held their Board meeting at the brand new meeting space in the contemporary entrance to the Rockhampton Zoo, enjoying a tour before returning to Brisbane. Our special guests were grateful for the opportunity to learn more about our destination’s opportunities and challenges directly from our local industry and elected Members. We are very grateful for the investment in time that TEQ afforded our region, one of only three regions in Queensland this year, where the TEQ Board meeting has been held outside of Brisbane.
