Destination 2045 Tourism Forum

Last week, industry leaders attended the Destination 2045 Tourism Forum in Brisbane, hosted by the Department of Environment and Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI).

Progress updates were provided by Minister Andrew Powell MP, Director-General Trish O’Callaghan, TEQ CEO Craig Davidson, Deputy DG QPWS and Partnerships Ben Klaassen, with Deputy DG Tourism Bridget Woods co-facilitating a Q&A session on topics including:

  • Ecotourism and sustainability
  • Infrastructure and connectivity
  • Regional collaboration and development
  • Disaster recovery and resilience

These bi-annual forums provide an opportunity for open and transparent discussions with Regional Tourism Organisations, Regional Organisation of Council reps, Airports and Industry Associations (QTIC, Caravan Parks Assoc of Qld, Ecotourism Australia, Agritourism Australia, Dinosaur Experiences Australia) and other government agencies including Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ), to share industry insights, challenges and opportunities right across the state.
