Rockhampton Ring Road

Get ready to hit the road

The Rockhampton Ring Road Project is a significant major project being undertaken in our region over the next four years. The project is currently in the final detailed design phase, with Expression of Interest, shortlisting and contract negotiations to be undertaken with Tier 1 suppliers over the forthcoming 9-12 months.

Capricorn Enterprise been working to promote inclusion of local content principles and initiatives at both the Commonwealth and the State political levels. At the recent Rockhampton Ring Road Project Information Session, presentations from Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) indicated a strong preference for supporting a local content approach. DTMR made reference to Best Practice Principles and Best Practice Employment Initiatives, taking into account considerations such as local capability, local people and good training as criteria when making procurement decisions.

In order to participate in the project and procurement opportunities, it is important that local industry ensure they understand the requirements to qualify for work packages, sub-contract arrangements and supply opportunities. The Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning outlined government support services and funding schemes that can assist in the development and growth of business capability or capacity.
