Passionate locals set to screen on Channel 9’s My Way in 2024

Capricorn Enterprise has once again partnered with Channel 9’s popular television program ‘My Way’ to showcase the journey of six (6) passionate locals.

Filming in destination this week, the crew have been working from dawn to dusk to capture the incredible stories of some of our quiet achievers.

To kick off, the crew took a behind the scenes look at popular Rockhampton restaurant Trufusion Indian Bar & Grill to hear the story of founder Amit Rana and his family’s journey to the Beef Capital to become one of the top restaurants in the region and placed amongst the top 1% restaurants in the world, winning global recognition by TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards for the fourth consecutive year.

The crew then joined Phil Hore from Time Safari Tours at the Rockhampton Zoo and Gardens Tearooms, followed by a spooky ‘Jack the Ripper’ night walking tour commencing at the Criterion Hotel in the CBD. For the last 20 years, Phil has been a museum educator and designed tours for some of the world’s leading institutions including The Australian War Memorial, Chicago’s Field Museum, The London Natural History Museum, The National Dinosaur Museum and more.

It was then all laughs with Kaye and Garyth Walpole at Footlights Theatre Restaurant as the My Way team captured the couples love of comedy, people and the Capricorn Coast since 1981. Celebrating 40 years in 2021, the Footlight’s team under the leadership of Kaye and Garyth have entertained visitors and locals with their unique experience.

Brightening up the schedule with some quirky street art, the crew chatted with Bill and Luke Gannon from Out There Co. – the human faces behind some of the region’s most iconic artistic portraits. Making their mark on much of the Capricorn Coast destination with their notable brushstrokes and colourful visions, the father and son team have contributed to many strategic place-making and public art initiatives.

Still to come this week, the crew will spend the day learning about Yeppoon’s newly opened brewery, Crimson Finch and getting some tricks of the trade from award-winning head brewer, Carl Legros. Since opening close to a fortnight ago, Crimson Finch has rapidly become a popular watering hole, and we have no doubt that this episode is set to share the passion of three mates, their navigation through blood, sweat, beers, laughter, friendship and incredible success.

Wrapping up the week, the self-confessed ‘Home Economics addict’ Amanda Rickard from Stir & Stitch will share her story of how she came to provide the unique and inspiring ‘back to basics’ business that focusses on building community, life-long learning, teaching, back to basics living, and relishing the slow things in life.

My Way has a weekly viewing audience of 232,250 and a cumulative audience of 2.1 million viewers, so this kind of national marketing is hugely valuable, providing great exposure for our entire destination, and importantly local operators.

Capricorn Enterprise thanks the team at My Way for continuing to show amazing support for our destination and we are so pleased that they have chosen to return to cover more wonderful characters and locations across our backyard.

These stories will all be aired in February/March 2024. Stay tuned for updates.
