Keppel Bay Sailing Club Media Release: Spinnaker Unveils Major Redevelopment to Enhance Member Experience

A significant staged redevelopment is underway at The Spinnaker, with works set to run from April through to November 2026, delivering major upgrades across key areas of the venue while remaining open to members and guests.

The redevelopment has been carefully planned to enhance the overall member experience while ensuring continuity of service throughout construction.

General Manager of Keppel Bay Sailing Club, Mal Cochrane, said the redevelopment represents an important step forward in the venue’s long-term vision.

“As we move into the next stage of the redevelopment, we are looking forward to delivering a spacious, modern facility featuring a new gaming room, café, kitchen, dining area, lift and upgraded amenities,” Mal said. “Further stages of the project, including the foredeck area, will follow as part of the broader redevelopment vision. This stage will open up the front of the club to create genuine outdoor dining and entertainment spaces, significantly enhancing how members and guests experience the venue”

The project is being delivered in managed stages to minimise disruption, with clear communication provided to members at each phase. While some areas will temporarily close at times, the venue will continue to operate, with alternative arrangements in place to maintain key services.

Stage 1, completed in 2024, delivered upgrades to the reception area and playground, improving the arrival experience and creating a more welcoming, family-friendly environment.

The next phase, Stage 2A, commenced in mid-April and will include the redevelopment of the café. Once complete, the space will feature a modern design with comfortable seating areas for members and guests to relax and enjoy coffee or light meals.

This stage will also include demolition of the existing lift and installation of a new lift, a process expected to take approximately six months due to the scale of works involved.

Gaming room upgrades will run alongside the café redevelopment and will be delivered in two stages. This approach will allow part of the gaming area to remain operational, with a reduced number of machines available during construction. Once complete, the expanded gaming room will provide a more spacious layout and improved atmosphere.
