Major Regional Projects

2019 will see the commencement of in excess of $3.5 Billion worth of infrastructure projects across the region encompassing Livingstone and Rockhampton Council areas generating unprecedented  opportunities for regional business and local workforce.

Whilst commitments have been made in respect to local industry participation on many of these projects (ranging from 65% up to 80% local content), our overall challenge will be ensuring that industry are suitably qualified (being compliant plus meeting Commonwealth procurement rules ) and demonstrate a competitive edge.

The schedule below has been prepared to assist our Members and local industry/business groups to secure a better understanding of Projects and their value – anyone seeking further information is invited to request to be included on our contacts database, subscribe to our weekly e-newsletter or contact Regional Economic Development Manager Neil Lethlean, 4927 2055.

Rookwood Weir

Rockhampton is identified as the Beef Capital of Australia due to its predominance in beef breeding, hosting the triennial Beef Australia Expo, housing two of the nation’s largest cattle processing plants, location of the State’s largest livestock exchange and home to a number of key beef breeding associations. Through the development of Eden Bann and Rookwood Weirs on the Fitzroy River the region can further the agricultural industry’s position as a major agricultural ‘food bowl’ to the region and beyond. The Rookwood Weir site is approximately 66 km south west of Rockhampton on the Fitzroy River and is proposed to be developed in two stages.
